A task force composed of private citizens, industry representatives and local officials released a list of recommendations for reducing emissions in the Upper Green River Basin.
The list, which will soon be reviewed by the Department of Environmental Quality for possible adoption, aims to develop and implement emission reduction rules.
The group — the Upper Green River Basin Air Quality Citizens Advisory Task Force — submitted the recommendations to the DEQ after a Sept. 19 meeting. The agency posted the list Thursday.
The recommendations include proposals for reducing emissions from drill rigs, produced water ponds and “stationary” oil and gas sources like storage tanks, pumps and compressors. The list also includes potential policy framework promoting contingency plans for area operators, improved measurement of fugitive emissions and leaks, increased public access to records and increased incentives for voluntary emissions reduction.
