As the Wildlife Conservation Society looked at ways to restore bison to their natural habitat, a fundamental question arose — what do people in Montana really think about bison restoration?

That was the impetus behind a survey commissioned by WCS and the National Wildlife Federation and conducted in June, polling Montanans on their feelings about bison restoration.

The results of that survey, released Wednesday, show that 68 percent of Montanans support restoration of wild bison on federal or state land, while 26 percent oppose it.
