Purpose

The Greater Tacoma Community Foundation is dedicated to enriching the quality of life for all people in Tacoma and Pierce counties. The foundation believes that connections between people, organizations, neighborhoods and services help bind together the people of a community.

Funding Interests

The foundation's environmental interests include enhancing awareness of environmental issues, encouraging responsible stewardship of natural resources, recreation and promoting the welfare of birds and animals.

Grant Size

$500 to $5000

Requirements & Limitations

Applicants must be non-profit, tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organizations which are located primarily in, and serve the residents of, the greater Tacoma-Pierce County area. Grants will be considered for general operations, project support and for capital needs.
Grants will not be made to annual campaign appeals, fund-raising events, travel, individuals, political or lobbying activities, religious organizations for sacramental/theological purposes, endowments or publications except those that grow out of research underwritten by the foundation.

Application Process

A letter of intent is required prior to submitting a grant request. Interested applicants can view the guidelines for letters of intent and grant proposals on the foundation's website.

Recent Grants

Grant 1

Grantee: Northwest Ecosystem Alliance, Bellingham, WA
Amount: $5000
Purpose: The NWEA protects and restores wild lands in the Pacific Northwest and supports such efforts in British Columbia. Funding was given to help purchase acreage in a local watershed area.<br><br>

Grant 2

Grantee: Citizens for a Healthy Bay, Tacoma, WA
Amount: $2500
Purpose:

Funding was given to provide general operating support for the Citizens for a Healthy Bay, who are striving to engage the community in an effort to clean-up, restore and protect Commencement Bay.
